LOUISA ROTARY HEARS FROM CHRISTIAN SCHOOL LEADER

On Thursday February 20, 2020 the Louisa Rotary held their weekly meeting at the First Baptist Church, in Louisa, KY.

Vice President Michael Shapaka called the meeting to order, after everyone enjoyed a wonderful buffet. He started out the meeting with prayer, led by Pastor Chuck Price, “The Pledge of Allegiance, led by Vince Doty. The Four Way Test was led by Tommy Taylor. Members sang a song by Vince Gill, titled “Let There Be Peace On Earth”.

Special guest and speaker was Pastor Tate from Trinity Christian Church

Shapaka stated to members that they had received a “Thank-You” Card from the Lawrence County Fair Board, for the club’s participation during the fair.

Member Dr. Robbie Fletcher, SUPT. LAWRENCE CO. SCHOOLS,  congratulated the LC boys and girls basketball teams, they have been playing great. The boys team will be playing in the Districts in Prestonsburg on Tuesday, February 26th at 6 p.m. The girls team will also be playing in the Districts on Monday, February 25th at 7:30 p.m. at Prestonsburg.

Guest Speaker, Pastor Tate from the Trinity Christian School gave a speech on Christian Schooling and how vital it is for today’s children to be raised up in a Christian household, as they are the key to our future. Mr. Tate said he has preached at thousands of different churches. He has even traveled to the “Artic” in Northern Canada. He preached there for a week in 24 degree weather, every day outside for an hour to help spread Christian Education.

The Rotary Club offers opportunities for their members…and those interested in making a difference—to get involved. There are community and business leaders representing different professions, experiences, and perspectives but with a shared desire to connect with others to address the challenges affecting our community and communities around the world.
