Ted Miller an antique collector and enthusiast. He spoke about Thomas Edison who was born in Ohio and his inventions including the phonograph (shown here).

Rotarians met for their usual meeting on Thursday, Nov. 1. After the lunch, Prayer for our community, The Pledge of Allegiance and reciting the Four way test the President Steve Lycans announced upcoming events.

Farmers’ Appreciation Dinner will be on Thursday, Nov. 15 and meeting the Resource Directors at Walmart To Distribute the Turkeys for families. Lycans encouraged all who wanted to participate to be there.

Lycans then announced the speaker of the week. Mr. Ted Miller an antique collector and enthusiast. He spoke about Thomas Edison who was born in Ohio and his inventions. One of the most famous being the phonograph which Mr. Miller brought and played to the club. He boasted about the number of patents Edison had. In his 84 years, Edison acquired record number of 1,093 patents (singly or jointly). The phonograph was the first way a person could record or play back sound. Edison stumbled upon this great invention well working on a way to record telephone communications at his laboratory in New Jersey.

Miller had a number of items that he brought to show the club and showed each. It is nothing short of amazing how far technology has boomed over the last 2 decades. With that, the meeting was adjourned for the week.
