On Thursday June 23, 2022 The Louisa Rotary Club had its weekly scheduled meeting from 12-1PM at First Baptist Church, Louisa, Kentucky.
Louisa Rotary Member Tommy Taylor welcomed Members and Guests to Club Meeting and was also the Program Chair for today’s meeting. After the Prayer, pledge of allegiance and the Four-Way Test, Taylor asked for Anniversaries and Birthdays.
Rotary Members Tommy & Ellen Taylor are celebrating 37 years of marriage and Carol Thompson and Chuck Price are celebrating birthdays 4 days apart this week.
Taylor introduced today’s Louisa Rotary Speaker Brooke Neal.
Brooke Neal will be a Senior this fall at LCHS. She has won the Louisa Rotary Essay Contest for 2022 and received a Gold Medallion and was awarded a monetary check.
Neal has been to a beauty pageant, played varsity basketball and wants to be a doctor and her passion is mental health.
Neal has been very busy this year, she has attended four college summer piloting programs. Neal’s latest activities include St.Mary’s Health Professions Academy, EKU Stem Camp, UPike PEPP Program and Kentucky Wesleyan Scholars Academy.
At St.Mary’s Hospital she attended the school of Nursing and monitored Ultrasounds and MRI’S at the school of nursing. While attending EKU, Neal attended various college classes with college professors and enjoyed her time in the aviation simulator. At UPPIKE Neal job shadowed two orthopedic surgeries. I dissected a heart and lungs in the cadaver lab. While attending KY Wesleyan in Owensboro, Kentucky Neal will leave this Sunday for that program and it’s a leadership track, she said..
Brooke Neal wants to be a Radiologist.
Taylor then called for any comments for the good of Rotary.
LC Clerk and longtime Rotary member Chris Jobe explained the ‘Bicentennial Burger Week’ to Louisa Rotary Members which starts today June 24 and ends Friday July 1, 2022. (See previous ‘Bicentennial Burger Week’ in Lazer)
Also Louisa Rotary will be taking donations for the yearly ‘Louisa Rotary Radio Auction’ on Tuesday and Wednesday August 2 & 3, 2022. Also the last week in July will be the Lawrence County Fair.
