Louisa Rotary met as usual on Thursday, February 1st at the First Baptist Church. The meeting began with the traditional prayer, Pledge of Allegiance and reciting of the four Way Test. President Chris Jobe announced that Mary McGuire had a birthday and Bonnie Conn celebrated an anniversary.
There was no speaker for the week, however it was full of information to update the club about everything talked about at the recent board meeting.
* Steve Lycans of Lycom Comm. announced a billing error at his company. He took full responsibility for the error and made it clear that it was just on paper billing. Any auto pay would not be effected, he said.
* In donation requests, Brother Scot Hoeksema of the Louisa First United Methodist Church, and a member of Rotary has asked for financial help with a mission trip to Uganda.
* The Louisa Safety Patrol has also asked for financial help with their yearly trip to Washington, DC.
* The Rotary club members also talked about the Yatesville cleanup in April, and donating time to the horse trail at Yatesville.
* Two new Rotarians, Greg Fugitt and Kathy Wells were introduced to the group.
* Member Lindsey Case also spoke about the shooting tragedy at Marshall County high school. She said that in honor of the victims, they had asked everyone to join together and wear their (Marshall Co.) school colors which are orange and blue on February 2nd. (School was cancelled because of bad weather, however.)
* Pastor Dan Smith of the Louisa United Methodist church also proposed that Rotarians help with children’s charities in Kentucky with his barbecue sauce. He agreed to pay for the bottles and the label as well as the sauce and anyone who could help sell it, he promised that 100% of the profit will go straight to children’s charities all over the state of Kentucky. Rotarian Bill England agreed to go in half with Dan Smith on the cost of the bottles and labels. After that conversation the meeting was adjourned for the week.
