LOUISA ROTARY CELEBRATES 96TH YEAR WITH PARTY AT TORO LOCOS

On Thursday March 5, 2020, the Louisa Rotary held their weekly meeting at The Toro Loco Restaurant in Louisa, KY. This was in celebration of their 96th year (March 4, 1924) of their charter  in the Louisa Rotary.

The members enjoyed a nice meal before the meeting was called to order by Rotary President Elaine DeSario. Prayer was led by Tommy Thompson and The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Joe.

Rotary member Robbie Fletcher congratulated the girls and boys basketball teams of LCHS for winning the district games.

The club  also congratulated the Louisa Academics teams, all three school placed in the region.

Benjamin Fanning( son of Al and Sandy) won the state competition in Archery, he was congratulated also.

Keith Moore from Salvage farms has started to distribute natural bottled water coming from trees…

The Louisa Rotary Club has partnered up with Keith Moore to help raise funds for “The backpacks for Children” program and funding for the Resource Center to help the needy. Checks were presented at the meeting.

Keith, from Savage farms has started to distribute natural bottled water coming from trees. Savage Farms is the only place doing this in Kentucky. The Maple Festival at Salvage Farms in Fallsburg, will be held on March 28, 2020 starting at 9 a.m. This will be a fun family event for the whole family, inflatables will be set up for the children any different activities available.

Rotary member Chris Jobe handed out information on RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awareness). The Rotary and School will be sending 3 or 4  8th grade students to this event at The Life Adventure Center. The Rotary is selling tickets on an I-pad  to raise for the backpack program.

Molly Webb (Career Service Coordinator) from ATCT

Guest Speaker Molly Webb of  the Ashland Community and Technical College spoke about the career services on soft skills, which has been going on for 3 years now.

Different than Tech skills Soft Skills teach students things that are taken for granted such as career inspiration, resume preparation, internship opportunities, job search and get them work ready. Dr. Fletcher and Louisa Rotary has partnered up with the ACTC to help make these programs available.

The  Rotary club enjoyed a beautiful cake with the Rotary Symbol on it and meeting was adjourned.
