May 27, 2021 – At tonight’s council meeting, Mayor Harold Slone and Chief Greg Fugitt presented Sgt. Steven Wilburn with the Louisa Police Commendation Medal.

Sgt. Wilburn while on routine patrol on March 19th , took it upon himself to respond to an EMS call of an infant that was born at the Best Western motel and was not breathing.

Upon arriving Sgt. Wilburn gave immediate care to the infant until EMS arrived resulting in the child surviving and able to be transported to the hospital.

Later the same shift Sgt. Wilburn rapidly responded to a call of an unresponsive male by the locks. Sgt. Wilburn administered Narcan to the person assisting him to regain conscience until EMS arrived.

These two life saving events all in the same shift were both EMS calls and Sgt. Wilburn went above and beyond his call of for duty.

A very well deserved award. May God bless Sgt Wilburn.

shouldn’t have wasted the narcam on a dope head, save it for an innocent person who accidentally comes in contact with the dope or use it on the K-9 officer if needed, too many worthless thieving junkies around anyway

I can’t say I disagree with you Kevin.

Mayor and police chief need to look up the meaning to the word valor. This is what dilutes the true meaning of doing something that would actually merit a medal of valor. A pat on the back and a job well done would have more like it.

Going in ahead of EMS and saving a new born babies life would seem to merit it to me. It sure goes far beyond a pat on the back!

Now if he can just work on his personality that would be great!

Work on his personality? None of u fools understand what it’s like to be a police officer. He is a great guy who always does the right thing and protects any one needing protected. Watch what u say. One day it will be u hoping someone like him comes to your rescue. Only cowards call out people like Steve wilburn who keep us all
    Safe.

  6. Longhorn says:

U fools get on here and talk crap about the very people who
Keep us safe. Shame on u. Steve wilburn is a great cop and a better person. Most people will never do anything in their lives better than saving a babies life and u all have the audacity to say the things u do. Bums is all I can say. Get a job and show respect to the people who deserve it. He certainly does!!

Don’t include me in this “U Fools” roundup you’ve got going on!
