Saturday night November 11 at 1800 as Louisa Police officer Hunter James was beginning his shift he was involved in a single vehicle collision which caused the 4 WD police vehicle he was driving to run off the road and land on its top in a small creek.

Louisa police officer Hunter James was involved in a rollover accident as he was on his way to work Saturday night near his home in Paddle Creek, W.VA. He was not injured in the crash but the police vehicle was a total wreck.

According to the accident report, handled by the West Virginia State Police, Ptl. James was leaving his residence on Paddle Creek, W.Va. when he was distracted by a pair of gloves falling off his dashboard under his feet which caused the officer to veer to the left of the one lane roadway.

The late model police 4 WD vehicle was pulled from the small ravine shortly after the accident.

Due to poorly marked and maintained road, the vehicle’s left wheel dropped off the pavement which didn’t have an earth embankment berm in that area. Ptl. James was unable to regain control which resulted in the vehicle continuing over the five to six foot drop off and landing on its top in the creek.

Officer James was checked out and released from TRMC with no reported injuries. Investigation was handled by West Virginia State Police. The vehicle was totaled in the accident.
