Louisa Police Department Joins Office of Kentucky Highway Safety’s Speed Enforcement Campaign

Louisa, KY – June 12, 2024 – The Louisa Police Department announces its participation in the Office of Kentucky Highway Safety’s annual Speed Enforcement Campaign, aimed at reducing speeding-related crashes, injuries, and fatalities. This statewide initiative, which runs from June 28th to July 12th, underscores the importance of driving at safe speeds and reinforces the commitment of law enforcement agencies to keep roadways safe.

During the campaign, Louisa Police officers will increase patrols and utilize speed detection devices to identify and apprehend speeding motorists. Officers will also distribute educational materials to promote safe driving practices and inform the public about the dangers of speeding.

“We are committed to ensuring the safety of all road users in our community,” said Chief of Police Greg Fugitt. “Speeding endangers everyone on the road. By participating in this campaign, we aim to remind drivers to slow down and follow posted speed limits, ultimately saving lives.”

The campaign’s timing coincides with the summer travel season when roadways experience higher traffic volumes. Increased enforcement during this period is crucial in mitigating the risks associated with speeding, particularly in areas with higher incidents of traffic accidents.

Motorists are urged to remember the following safety tips:

  • Obey all posted speed limits.
  • Adjust your speed according to road conditions.
  • Allow ample time to reach your destination.
  • Stay focused and avoid distractions while driving.

The Louisa Police Department invites all community members to join in supporting this campaign by adhering to speed limits and driving responsibly. Together, we can make our roads safer for everyone.

For more information about the Speed Enforcement Campaign please contact the Louisa Police Department at (606) 638-4058.
