Celebrate National Library Week April 3-9 by connecting with your local public library and participating in a job fair

FRANKFORT, Ky. (March 23, 2022) — To celebrate National Library Week from April 3-9, the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives (KDLA) is partnering with the Lexington Public Library to offer a statewide job fair for Kentuckians in approximately 25 counties. In addition, public libraries across the state will recognize the contributions of public libraries by encouraging Kentuckians to visit their libraries in person or online to explore and use services and programs.

“We are celebrating public libraries across Kentucky because they are making a difference in people’s lives in so many ways with so many free resources. During the pandemic, libraries went above and beyond their normal services to keep their communities connected and provide important services. They are continually expanding access to technology and resources and embracing inclusion in their programming, resources and collections to meet the needs of all Kentuckians,” said Gov. Andy Beshear.

“KDLA is pleased to partner with the Lexington Public Library on a statewide job fair during National Library Week. The 2022 theme for National Library Week is Connect with Your Library, and the statewide job fair is an excellent way for participating libraries to provide a valuable service while increasing connections in the local community,” said Terry Manuel, commissioner of KDLA, state librarian and archivist and records administrator for Kentucky.

Public libraries are a free community resource where people can connect with technology by using broadband, computers, as well as media, programs, classes and books in person or online. In addition, public libraries connect job seekers to career opportunities and resources and are an important component of the state’s broader workforce eco-system. Kentuckians can access job preparation databases and other career development materials, GED classes and testing sites, and get assistance with online job applications and resume preparation at their local library.

The following libraries are participating in the statewide job fair event during National Library Week. Everyone is welcome to attend the job fair regardless of county residency. Local libraries may be added to the list. For a up-to-date list, visit the KDLA website.

First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries of all types across the country each April.

LC Library should hand out 100-dollar bills to celebrate the abundance of goodwill of the taxpayers. Maybe give away a free car. How about free 4 year tuition for a LC senior whose family works but doesn’t qualify for freebies.
