CRIMINAL FIEND ATTACKS A GRANDMOTHER WITH A STEEL WEAPON: LONNIE D. MAYNARD, 50, OF LOUISA, KY., WAS ARRESTED ON FRIDAY, MAY 26, FOR ATTACKING A WOMAN WITH A TIRE WOMAN, AFTER SHE CONFRONTED HIM FOR SCREAMING OBSCENITIES AT HER YOUNG GRANDSON IN HER FRONT YARD.

A Lawrence County man remains in jail after he was arrested at the start of the Memorial Holiday weekend after he admitted hitting a woman with a tire iron.

According to the arrest citation, on early Friday evening, May 26, deputy Tyler Laney of the Lawrence County Sheriff Office was dispatched to a residence after a 911 call from a woman who claimed she had been assaulted with a weapon and was injured by a man after a verbal confrontation with him.

When deputy Laney arrived at the residence, the woman reported to deputy Laney that the man, who was identified as Lonnie D. Maynard, 50, of Louisa, KY., had been in her yard screaming profanities at her 6-year-old grandson, when she got in her car and told him to leave.

The woman stated to deputy Laney that Lonnie Maynard started to walk away, but he then suddenly grabbed a tire iron and began hitting her car with it. When she got out of the car, she said Lonnie Maynard began hitting her with the tire iron as well.

Lonnie Maynard reportedly admitted to deputy Laney and other responding officers that he hit the woman, and that Lonnie Maynard further told deputy Laney that he would do it to the woman again.

Lonnie Maynard was taken into custody by deputy Tyler Laney and he was charged with:

*ASSAULT 2ND DEGREE, which is a Class C felony, which carries a sentence of five (5) to ten (10) years in prison; along with

*CRIMINAL MISCHIEF 3RD DEGREE. Lonnie Maynard was further charged separately with him being served with bench warrant for

*FAILURE TO APPEAR; for not appearing for a court hearing.

Lonnie Maynard has a significant criminal past, with this latest arrest of him now being arrested eighteen (18) times, in under 12 & 1/2 years, just since January  2011, on nearly fifty (50) charges, nearly all in Lawrence County & Martin County. He was arrested twice already in 2023 in Lawrence County, on January 28 for falsely reporting an incident; and on March 15 for terroristic threatening 3rd degree.

Lonnie Maynard was taken to, booked & lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville, KY., in Johnson County; where he remains as of late Wednesday night, May 31, on a $10,025 full cash bond only.
