LOUISA DAR ‘OPEN HOUSE’ HELD THIS WEEK

Even with the rainy day, the Louisa Chapter of the DAR had many members and guests attend the ‘Open House’ held on Thursday August 10th. Everyone enjoyed the refreshments, looking over the new DAR room and Library which is being added to continuously by interested genealogist.

DAR Wanda Cassady, Myrtle Walker, Glenda Grayson, Lynn Courtney, Susan Heston.

The Wayne County Historical Society has invited Louisa DAR members to a dedication on Saturday August 12, 2017 at 1:00 pm for Revolutionary soldier, Wayne Co. visitor Herb Dawson, and Sabrina May, and  Frankie DanielJames Maynard, at Dunlow, West Va.. Around 14 of our members are a descendant of Maynard.

Lynnette Chaffin was the winner of the door prize which was a handmade Burlap Wreath.

The DAR room will be open every Thursday from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm and other times by appointment.

The first DAR meeting for the new year will be August 22, 2017 in the Louisa First Baptist Church Cafe at 6:00 pm.

Come join us for about 2 hours of genealogy, history, refreshments, and good company.
