On Tuesday December 13, 2022 the Louisa City Council had a regular scheduled meeting at 7PM at Louisa City Hall, 215 N Main Street, Louisa, Kentucky.

Mayor of Louisa Harold Slone was in attendance along with City Council Members Joey McClanahan, Gary Robertson, Lisa Schaeffer, Thomas Parsons and Ashley Caudill. Council Member Matt Brown was absent due to his work obligations.

Slone welcomed everyone to the Council meeting. After the Pledge of Allegiance and Prayer Mayor Slone called on City Attorney Eldred E. (Bud) Adams for the swearing in of himself and members of council and a new City of Louisa Female Officer.

Incumbent Mayor Slone was sworn in by Bud Adams along with the 6 Louisa Council Members Joey McClanahan, Gary Robertson, Caleb Farley, Rose Lester, Thomas Parsons and Ashley Caudill.

Shelby Taylor was sworn in by Bud Adams as a new Louisa Police Officer, the first female cop in modern history for LPD. See Lazer story HERE

Next was approving Old Business Minute’s for November 15, 2022 – Motion by Ashley Caudill 2nd by Tom Parsons. None Opposed.

New Business included Kentucky Deferred Employment Resolution (Not on Agenda) This resolution would authorize City of Louisa employees to participate in a voluntary retirement program. The employees will pay 100% At No Cost to the City of Louisa. Motion by Gary Robertson 2nd by Lisa Schaeffer. No Opposed. Council Comments –

No comments, Audience Comments – No Comments.

Then the Mayor and Council Members went into Executive Session. Motion by Joey McClanahan 2nd by Thomas Parsons. The session lasted about 15 minutes. When the Council returned, Bud Adams stated, There is a potential acquisition of property for purchase being discussed. The Meeting Adjourned, Motion by Joey McClanahan 2nd by Gary Robertson.

Marsha Slone from ‘Farmhouse Memories’ made beautiful Snoopy Christmas arrangements for the City Council Members.

“…I would like to Thank all the volunteers who helped with the Christmas decorations in Louisa. The creativity, trees, gingerbread house and lights made Louisa look almost perfect.”

“…I truly appreciate everyone and eventually as we keep adding new items for Christmas will make it better from year to year then thanked everyone for helping decorate the ‘Main Street Park’ downtown.”

“…LC Judge Phil Carter has invited all the Louisa City officials and employees to attend the LC Christmas Party at 6PM at the Lawrence County Community Center adjacent to LCHS.”

 

OTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS:

* LC Judge Phil Carter has invited all the Louisa City officials and employees to attend the LC Christmas Party at 6PM Dec. 16, at the Lawrence County Community Center adjacent to LCHS.”

  • The Louisa Fire Department will have a Christmas Party on December 17, 2022 at 6PM.
  • On Sunday December 18, 2022 a Christmas Party for the public will be at the Louisa Community Center at 4PM.

    The next City of Louisa Council Meeting will be held on January 10, 2023 at 7PM at City Hall.
