Local Health Dept. Nutritionist gets state award

LOUISA, Ky. — Carolyn McGinn, Nutritionist and Health Educator with the Lawrence County Health Department, was recently awarded the 2016 Peggy S. Kidd Nutrition Award by the Kentucky Public Health Association.

Carolynn McGinn recently won the 2016 Peggy S. Kidd Nutrition Award by the Kentucky Public Health AssociationThe award honors a nutritionist for outstanding professional contributions and service in public health.

Carolyn has been with the Lawrence County Health Department for more than twelve years providing medical nutrition counseling as well as coordinating the Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Program and the Healthy Living with Diabetes Support Group.

She is a member of the Lawrence County Health Action Team, Eastern Kentucky Breastfeeding Coalition, Kentucky Nutrition Education Materials Committee, KY-ASAP, 4-H Council and Louisa and Blaine Family Resource Councils.

“Carolyn is committed to improving the health of her community. Her efforts in diabetes prevention and control and breastfeeding have truly made a difference,” said Debbie Miller, Lawrence County Health Department Director.
