Linda Kay Gilkerson met her Heavenly Father Jesus on August 28, 2022.

She was born July 23, 1955 to the late Owen and Patty Marcum. She was also preceded in death by her sister Deanna Caudill, brother Elliott Marcum, brother in law Danny Gilkerson and her in laws Brady “Jim” and Dori Gilkerson.

Left to cherish her sweet memory is her husband of 42 years Michael Wade Gilkerson; daughter Angela Kay Badgett (John), daughter Jamie Michelle Hutchens (Diron) and son Michael Wade Gilkerson II (Kimberly); eight precious grandchildren that she adored: Jaylyn, Evan (Emily), Jack, Ella, Emmy, Savannah, Kenzie and Mika. Additional surviving family members include her brothers Bobby (Lora) Marcum, Larry (Sue) Marcum, John Paul ( Lawana), her brothers in law David Gilkerson, Sonny Gilkerson, Steve Gilkerson; and sister in law Kathy Enterkin; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and a tremendous amount of friends.

Linda was best known for her intense love for her family, mainly her grandchildren.  She welcomed all into her home with meals and family gatherings. Her home felt like home to so many. She spent several years caring for family and dedicating her life to service of others. She always had good advice, a hug and time for others. You couldn’t leave her presence without feeling welcomed and deeply loved. Her passing is a huge loss.

A celebration of her life will be September 3, 2022 at her home at 115 Cass Street, Fort Gay, WV at 4:00 PM.

Young Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Mrs. Gilkerson and her family.
