Local favorite Thoze Guyz set to open

Prestonsburg, Ky. – The legendary band Exile, who has stretched across different genres and music platforms for over 50 years, will be hitting the stage in the Willard & Lucy Kinzer Theater at the Mountain Arts Center (MAC) on Friday, July 7. This will mark their return to the MAC for the first time since 2010.

Originally from Richmond, Ky., “The Exiles,” as they were at the time, formed in the early 1960’s and made their name playing throughout central and eastern Kentucky. They made many appearances at the on campus auditorium and student center at Prestonsburg Community College, now known as Big Sandy Community & Technical College. In 1978, they released “Kiss You All Over.” It quickly became No. #1 on many pop/rock charts and eventually sold over 5 million copies worldwide. Exile went on to have numerous chart topping hits on the country side, including “Woke Up in Love,” “Hang on to Your Heart,” and “Super Love.”

MAC Executive Director Clayton Case remarks on the history of Exile.

“To have a band with the caliber and pedigree of Exile coming back for one of our summer headlining shows, it really means a lot to us,” he said. “They have such a history and connection to this area and the people in eastern Kentucky. It will be a great night!”

The opening act for the night will be the Pike County group, Thoze Guyz. The band consists of Jeff Branham, Mark Stephens, Cody Branham, Dustin Hoover, and Jeremy Barrett. They are known for classic rock and popular music from many genres.

Exile with Thoze Guyz will be Friday, July 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door and can be purchased by visiting www.macarts.com or calling 1-888-MAC-ARTS.
