Rotary met for its weekly meeting on Thursday, March 23rd. After the traditional prayer, Pledge of Allegiance and Rotary Four Way Test the speaker was announced for the week.
The Lawrence County High School Junior FFA was the scheduled guests and speakers for the week. The group of Future Farmers along with their teacher Melissa Blackburn spoke about the details of their greenhouse and their competition that was held on Friday, March 24th.
They gave the Rotarians the details about what their class was about and what they did throughout the year. The competition included categories such as a beef impromptu, a horse impromptu and Parliamentary Procedure Team.
The FFA and agriculture education provide a strong foundation for our youth of America and the future of our food, fiber and natural resources systems. FFA promotes leadership, personal growth and career success among its members. Their motto being, “ Learning to do, doing to learn, earning to live, leaving to serve.”
With that the meeting was adjourned for the week.
Today (Saturday) I received the results of their competition:
Hailey Vanhorn competed in the Beef Impromptu category, scored ‘Excellent’
McKayla Sparks competed in the Horse Impromptu category and placed 2nd and will represent our region at State.
JV Parliament Procedure Team Won 1st place.
