Louisa, Ky — Lawrence Co. Boys Soccer ( 10-6-2 ) gave Prestonsburg ( 18-2-2 ) all they wanted but fell just short 1-0 in the 15th Region Championship game on Thursday at Prestonsburg High School.

2019 15th Region Soccer Runner Up

Both defenses were on point in a scoreless first half as both teams couldn’t get much going.

With 27 minutes to go in the game Prestonsburg scored the only goal of the game and the defense was stellar the entire game.

The SoccerDawgs will lose nine seniors Tyler Maynard, Bryice Brooks, Jimmy Cornette, Ryan Brown, Luke Cassell, Bryce Howard, Alex Ratliff, Blaine Snavely, Samual Collinsworth off this squad but return a good core of sophomores.

Prestonsburg will advance to play at Region 14 Champion Estill Co. ( 18-6 ) on Monday October 21st.

Lawrence Co. Head Coach Scott Johnson

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… I was super proud of those boys. It was a chess match all night long and came down to who could get lucky first.”

“… We will miss those boys tremendously and will lean heavily on some young boys to fill roles next season. We have a great crew of sophomores to pick up some slack. “
