LAWRENCE COUNTY WOMAN INDICTED BY BOYD COUNTY, KY. GRAND JURY IN LATE AUGUST FOR DRUG SMUGGLING ATTEMPT VIA HER NO-SUNSHINE BODY PARTS INTO BOYD COUNTY JAIL

SEPTEMBER 25, 2023 – written by WADE QUEEN

TALKING ABOUT A ‘HOLE’ LOTTA TROUBLE: MARY ELLEN WATKINS 42, OF LOUISA, KY., WAS INDICTED BY A BOYD COUNTY, KY. GRAND JURY ON FOUR FELONY COUNTS OF ATTEMPTING TO SMUGGLE NUMEROUS NARCOTICS HIDING IN HER PRIVATE INTERNAL BODILY REGIONS INTO THE BOYD COUNTY DETENTION CENTER IN CATLETTSBURG, KY.

A Lawrence County, KY., woman was indicted by a grand jury in Boyd County, KY. on Wednesday, August 30, for attempting to smuggle drugs into the Boyd County Detention Center in Catlettsburg.

Jessica Maryellen Watkins, 42, of Louisa, was indicted on four (4) counts of first-degree promoting contraband, a Class D felony, after a jail intake officer reportedly recovered four different types of “dangerous contraband” packaged in Ms.Watkins’s vaginal and rectal body cavities.

The packaging, according to Boyd County Court documents, was not fully concealed and subsequently was located during intake after Jessica Watkins was transferred from the Greenup County Detention Center in Greenup, KY., after being arrested in the early morning hours on Monday, August 21, after a traffic stop by a City of Raceland Police Department officer, where it was discovered she had an outstanding bench warrant for Failure To Appear in Court, and where upon she was subsequently transported to the Boyd County Detention Center.

The narcotic contraband that was found Jessica Watkins’s no-no areas allegedly included eleven (11) Tramadol pills (a narcotic used to treat pain), fourteen (14) Gabapentin (an anticonvulsant medication that can cause a slight high when abused), fourteen (14) whole & (12) partial Xanax bars (designed to treat anxiety disorders but is a popular recreational drug) and a small quantity of Marijuana.

If Jessica Watkins is convicted on all four charges of each count of promoting contraband, she faces a maximum punishment of one to up to five years in state prison on each of the counts.
