SENATOR PHILLIP WHEELER DISCUSSES COAL WITH U.S. SECRETARY OF ENERGY RICK PERRY
FRANKFORT, KY. (April 29, 2019) – Senator Phillip Wheeler, along with other members of the Kentucky General Assembly met with current United States Secretary of Energy and former Governor of Texas, James Richard “Rick” Perry to discuss a variety of issues facing the Commonwealth.
Senator Wheeler was able to pose questions to Secretary Perry to which he reaffirmed the commitment of the Trump Administration to Kentucky’s coal industry and natural gas industry.
Other topics of discussion included the availability of research funds for clean coal technology and the development of refining capacity in Appalachia.
“It was an honor and a privilege to converse with Secretary Perry and I was encouraged by what he had to say,” said Senator Phillip Wheeler. “A continued dialogue with the Department of Energy is essential in order to address issues facing Appalachia. In order to lessen the impact of natural disasters on America’s oil and liquefied natural gas refining capacity, we must consider every avenue and prioritize innovation and research.”
