LOUISA, KY. — A newly formed task force between the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, Louisa Police Department and the Lawrence County Constable Association will focus on drug enforcement and high risk or high priority warrants.

The D.I.C.E. or (Drug Interdiction Co-Op Enforcement) idea was tossed around following a meeting with Louisa Police Chief Greg Fugitt and Sheriff Chuck Jackson. Constable Daniel Castle, leading the Lawrence County Constables Association also agreeing on the joint effort, the task force was formed.

“With limited manpower working as separate agencies, we felt it was better to dedicate one or two officers from each agency to focus on the drug related issues and then everyone as a team go out and enforce the findings of those investigations, this is a safer and more productive way for the officers and the community.” stated Chief Fugitt.

“I think this is a great opportunity for both the city and county agencies to combine resources to better serve the community. Narcotics are at the core of many complaints that we receive on a daily basis. It is our hope that by this joint effort we can more efficiently target the sale and use of Narcotics,” Sheriff Jackson said.

If you have information of drug activity you can contact either agency at 606-638-4851.

I’m glad to see all agencies in Lawrence County are finally working together in order to combat the dealers. Now if the judges would get on board in handing down actual prison time for those convicted we could start seeing a difference in the community. We have 3 of the best law enforcement officers in the county.

Only an idiot would believe the agencies will work for the benefit of ALL Lawrence Countians! I worked as a teacher, professor and counselor. Prison Time IS NOT AN ANSWER! Only CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and possible medications for addiction will counter-act our drug culture. TKIP (To Keep in Prison) has long been wrong and the sooner our “leaders” recognize this the sooner we can heal these souls! I know—I’ve been recovering for over 15 years! Only got two Masters degrees. I guess I Failed again in SLC’s Eyes!?!?
