Two Louisa, Ky men were arrested Saturday night by the Wayne County Sheriff Drug Enforcement Unit after what started out as a simple traffic stop that later yielded during a search an active meth lab that was actually working in making a new batch of meth; along with other contraband material.

According to the arrest report, the Wayne County DEU made a traffic stop on a Ford Ranger with Lawrence County, Kentucky tags, after observing the Ranger pickup truck having defective equipment.

During the traffic stop, the officers observed an active meth lab in the console area of the truck. A search of the vehicle yielded multiple ingredients and chemicals used to manufacture methamphetamine.

Finished meth product was collected along with ICE (Methamphetamine) packaged for distribution. Digital scales, packaging material, and cash were seized.

The Wayne County Sheriff Drug Enforcement Unit arrested Jonathan Michael Young, 39, and Randy Scott Wright, 29, both of Louisa, and they were each charged with five felony charges: Operating or Attempting to Operate Clandestine Drug Laboratories, possession of precursors for meth, Pseudoephedrine Altered, Possession with Intent to Deliver, and Conspiracy.

Wayne County Sheriff Rick Thompson, along with Wayne County Sheriff Department Road Patrol Deputies assisted.

Sheriff Thompson says it’s a rare occasion to find an active mobile meth lab and appreciates the hard work of the Wayne County Sheriff Department Road Patrol and the Drug Enforcement Unit.
