LAWRENCE INDICTMENTS INCLUDE WAL MART THEFT, EVASION AND DRUGS

The Lawrence County Grand Jury met on December 13, 2018 and returned with 10 Felony indictments.

Christopher Maynard, 33 of Inez, KY. was indicted on:
2 COUNTS OF POSSESSION OF A FIREARM BY CONVICTED FELON, POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, 1ST DEGREE, POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, POSSESSION OF A DEFACED FIREARM AND POSSESSION/ USE RADIO THAT SENDS/RECEIVES POLICE MESSAGES. Both class D felonies.

The Grand Jury charges that on or before Oct. 17th that the defendant was in possession of a Walther brand .22 caliber handgun after having been convicted of a felony previously. The defendant knowingly and unlawfully possessed a defaced Smith and Wesson brand handgun after having been previously convicted of a felony. The defendant was unlawfully in possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, digital scales and a syringe. The defendant knowingly and unlawfully possessed a defaced firearm, a Smith and Wesson brand handgun that had the serial number removed, altered or concealed. Maynard also possessed a radio that is capable of sending or receiving messages or communications between police officers as defined as authorized by federal communications commission.

Kathy Muncy, 59 of Inez, KY. was indicted on
BURGLARY, 3rd degree, Class D felony and THEFT BY UNLAWFUL TAKING OVER $500, class D felony.

The Grand Jury charges that on or from September 30th, 2018  through October 15th, 2018 The defendant knowingly and unlawfully entered and remained in Walmart of Louisa with the intent of committing the crime of theft having been banned from the premises of any Walmart in the United States, the defendant knowingly and unlawfully taking from Walmart the following items: Gloves, masks, a vest, ammunition holders, gun cleaning items, a hat, gun slings, a SD memory card, hunter shears, a knife with a total value of $718.52 in Oct. and in Sept. The defendant took 32 boxes of shotgun ammunition with a total value of $565.43, and 10 trail cameras on October 5 with a total value of $306.13.

Aaron Maynard, 24 of Louisa indicted on

TRAFFICKING IN A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, 1ST DEGREE (GREATER THAN 2 GRAMS) and POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA

The Grand Jury charges that on or before November 21, 2018 the defend it knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a controlled substance with the intent to traffic in that controlled substance or by trafficking in a controlled substance, namely 5.85 g of methamphetamine, The defendant also possessed baggies, a digital scale and a Blue torch lighter.

Christine Hall, 48 of Columbus, Ohio was indicted on

RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY OVER $10,000 a class C felony with a penalty of 5 to 10 years.

The Grand Jury charges that on or before September 12, 2018 the defendant knowingly and unlawfully possessed a 2018 Ford Fusion motor vehicle stolen from Christopher Bryant Of Muncie, Indiana with a value of $17,000, while having knowledge the same vehicle was stolen or had reason to believe the same was stolen.

Gary Cochran, 51 of Paintsville, Ky. was indicted on

POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE,  FLEEING OR EVADING POLICE IN A MOTOR VEHICLE, POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL/DRUGS, ( ALL CLASS D FELONIES) and FAILURE OF OWNER TO MAINTAIN REQUIRED INSURANCE/SECURITY, NO REGISTRATION PLATES, INSTRUCTIONAL PERMIT VIOLATIONS AND PERSISTENT FELONY OFFENDER, 1ST DEGREE.

The defendant knowingly and unlawfully possessed a controlled substance, methamphetamine. Cochran knowingly and unlawfully disobeyed a direction to stop the motor vehicle he was operating while under the influence of drugs by fleeing police causing a risk of serious injury or death to persons on or near the roadway including but not limited to the police officers attempting to stop him, he possessed baggies with chemical residue in a syringe with chemical residue while operating a vehicle impaired. The defendant did not have required insurance for the motor vehicle and could not produce registration plates. The defendant knowingly and unlawfully operating a motor vehicle with an instructional permit and doing so well no licensed operator was in the vehicle. Having been charged with the above indictment is also charged with persistent felony offender have been been convicted of a previous felony.

Green Ramey, 37 of Louisa was indicted on THEFT BY UNLAWFUL TAKING OVER $500 and PERSISTENT FELONY OFFENDER

The Grand Jury charges that on or before July 12, 2018 the defendant knowingly and unlawfully taking a 1999 Honda 450 foreman art, manual shift, red in color, owned by Dennis Dotson of Louisa, with a value of  $1350. Having been convicted of a previous felony the defendant is now being charged with persistent felony offender.

Stella Mullett, 31 of Blaine , KY. indicted on

RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY / COMPLICITY, a Class D felony

The Grand Jury charges that on or before September 18th, 2018 the defendant acting alone or in complicity with Rebecca Clark knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of an opal diamond ring valued at $200 a gemstone ring valued at $200, and a carat and a half cluster ring valued at $1200 reported stolen from Sarah May of Webbville.

Rebecca Clark, 40 of Louisa indicted on

RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY / COMPLICITY, a Class D felony

The Grand Jury charges that on or before September 18th, 2018 the defendant acting alone or in complicity with Stella Mullett knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of an opal diamond ring valued at $200 a gemstone ring valued at $200, and a carat and a half cluster ring valued at $1200 reported stolen from Sarah May of Webbville.

Justin Brooks, 33 of Louisa was indicted on

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF, 1ST DEGREE, Class D felony

The Grand Jury charges that on or about November 9, 2018 the defendant knowingly and unlawfully damaged property owned by Karen Brooks in excess of $1,000.
