Lawrence County Grand Jury Hands Down 20 September Indictments
The current Lawrence County Grand Jury handed down several indictments including Lester Finley of Dunlow, WV on 3 separate charges. Lester was arrested by Teddy Newsome on August 15, for burglary in the first degree for entering TRMH with the intent to commit the crime of assault and upon flight therefrom was armed with a Sig Sauer brand .22 handgun with a silencer/suppressor equipped to the handgun. Lester was also charged with possession of a controlled substance in the first degree and public intoxication.
Commonwealth vs. Joshua Ray
The Grand Jury charges that on or before June 27, 2020 in Lawrence County, Ky the above-named defendant:
- Joshua Ray committed the offense of theft by unlawful taking over $500.00 by knowingly and unlawfully taking a 2004 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, owned by Rebecca Maynard with a value of $13,500.00.
- Joshua Ray, having been charged in the instant indictment with the above stated felony count(s) , is now being charged as a persistent felony offender in the first degree.
Commonwealth vs. Justin Sparks
The Grand Jury charges that on or before August 19, 2020 in Lawrence County, Ky the above-named defendant:
- Justin Sparks committed the offense of theft by unlawful taking (auto) by knowingly and unlawfully taking a 2007 Toyota Camry owned by Tyler Horton of Louisa, Ky, with a value of $6,300.00, with an Apple iPhone inside with a value exceeding $500.00.
- Justin Sparks committed the offense of theft by unlawful taking (firearm) by knowingly and unlawfully taking a Springfield Arms 9mm handgun owned by Tyler Horton of Louisa, Ky.

The Grand Jury charges that on or before June 28, 2020 in Lawrence County, Ky the above-named defendant:
- Bradley Parsley committed the offense of possession of a controlled substance in the first degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a controlled substance, Methamphetamine.
- Bradley Parsley committed the offense of possession of a controlled substance in the first degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a controlled substance, Heroin.
- Bradley Parsley committed the offense of possession of a controlled substance in the second degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a schedule III/IV controlled substance, namely Xanax.

The Grand Jury charges that on or before May 16 2020 in Lawrence County, Ky the above-named defendant:
- Rickey Stevens committed the offense of assault in the second degree when he knowingly and unlawfully caused physical injury to Ishamel Kelley of Grayson, Ky, by means of a deadly weapon or dangerous instrument.

- John May acting alone or in complicity with James Duke committed the offense of trafficking in a controlled substance in the first degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a controlled substance, $635.45 in cash, with the intent to traffic in that controlled substance or by trafficking in a controlled substance, namely Methamphetamine.

The Grand Jury charges that on or before August 6, 2020 in Lawrence County, Ky the above-named defendant:
- James Duke acting alone or in complicity with John May committed the offense of trafficking in a controlled substance in the first degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a controlled substance, $635.45 in cash, with the intent to traffic in that controlled substance or by trafficking in a controlled substance, namely Methamphetamine.
- Jame Duke committed the violation of careless driving by knowingly and unlawfully operating a motor vehicle upon a Kentucky roadway in a careless manner, with no regard to pedestrians or other vehicles upon the roadway.

The Grand Jury charges that on or before June 30, 2020 in Lawrence County, Ky the above-named defendant:
- Bradford Cordle acting alone or in complicity with Mark Caudill and Allison Benitoa committed the offense of trafficking in a controlled substance in the first degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a controlled substance with the intent to traffic in that controlled substance or by trafficking in a controlled substance, namely Methamphetamine, digital scales and multiple baggies.
- Bradford Cordle acting alone or in complicity with Mark Caudilll and Allison Benitoa committed the offense of possession/use drug paraphernalia by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of numerous altered pipes and syringes.

- Allison Benitoa acting alone or in complicity with Mark Caudill and Bradford Cordle committed the offense of trafficking in a controlled substance in the first degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a controlled substance with the intent to traffic in that controlled substance or by trafficking in a controlled substance, namely Methamphetamine, digital scales and multiple baggies.
- Allison Benitoa acting alone or in complicity with Mark Caudilll and Bradford Cordle committed the offense of possession/use drug paraphernalia by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of numerous altered pipes and syringes.

- Mark Caudill acting alone or in complicity with Bradford Cordle and Allison Benitoa committed the offense of trafficking in a controlled substance in the first degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a controlled substance with the intent to traffic in that controlled substance or by trafficking in a controlled substance, namely Methamphetamine, digital scales and multiple baggies.
- Mark Caudill acting alone or in complicity with Bradford Cordle and Allison Benitoa committed the offense of possession/use drug paraphernalia by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of numerous altered pipes and syringes.

The Grand Jury charges that on or before August 10, 2020 in Lawrence County, Ky the above-named defendant:
- Derek Nelson committed the offense of possession of a controlled substance in the first degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a controlled substance, Methamphetamine, with a prior conviction of this offense.
Commonwealth vs. Sonya Fitzgerald
The Grand Jury charges that on or before August 8, 2020 in Lawrence County, Ky the above-named defendant:
- Sonya Fitzgerald committed the offense of trafficking in a controlled substance in the first degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a controlled substance, scales, and small dose baggies with the intent to traffic in that controlled substance or by trafficking in a controlled substance, namely Methamphetamine.
- Sonya Fitzgerald committed the offense of trafficking in a controlled substance in the first degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a controlled substance, scales, and small dose baggies with the intent to traffic in that controlled substance or by trafficking in a controlled substance, namely Heroin.
- Sonya Fitzgetald committed the violation of no or expired registration plate by knowingly and unlawfully operating a motor vehicle upon a Ky roadway without a proper or required registration plates.
Commonwealth vs. Denise Meade
The Grand Jury charges that on or before August 6, 2020 in Lawrence County, Ky the above-named defendant:
- Denise Meade committed the offense of trafficking in a controlled substance in the first degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a controlled substance, scales, and multiple syringes with the intent to traffic in that controlled substance or by trafficking in a controlled, namely Methamphetamine.
- Denis Meade committed the violation of improper equipment by knowingly and unlawfully operating a motor vehicle upon a Ky roadway with improper equipment.
Commonwealth vs. William Bradley Ellis
The Grand Jury charges that on or before August 19, 2020 in Lawrence County, Ky the above-named defendant:
- William Bradley Ellis committed the offense of assault in the second degree by wantonly assaulting Robert Gillespie of Louisa, Ky, causing physical injury by means of a dangerous weapon or deadly instrument.
- William Bradley Ellis committed the offense of operating a motor vehicle under the influence, third offense within a 10-year period, by knowingly and unlawfully operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or other substances, that impair a driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle, while having two previous convictions.
- William Bradley Ellis committed the offense of disregarding a traffic control device by knowingly and unlawfully operating a motor vehicle upon a Ky roadway and failing to obey the instructions of any traffic control device.
Commonwealth vs. Steven M. Jude
The Grand Jury charges that on or before August 18, 2020 in Lawrence County, Ky the above-named defendant:
- Steven M. Jude committed the offense of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a Harrington and Richardson .20-gauge shotgun after having been previously convicted of a felony.
Commonwealth vs. Lester Finley
The Grand Jury charges that on or before August 15, 2020 in Lawrence County, Ky the above-named defendant:
- Lester Finley committed the offense of burglary in the first degree by knowingly and unlawfully entering Three Rivers Medical Center with the intent to commit the crime of assault therein and upon flight therefrom was armed with a Sig Sauer brand .22 handgun with a silencer/suppressor equipped to the handgun.
- Lester Finley committed the offense of possession of a controlled substance in the first degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a Scheduled I/II controlled substance.
- Lester Finley committed the offense of public intoxication (excluding alcohol) by knowingly and unlawfully appearing in a public setting manifestly under the influence of controlled substances or other drugs.
Commonwealth vs. Michael Cordle
The Grand Jury charges that on or before August 23, 2020 in Lawrence County, Ky the above-named defendant:
- Michael Cordle committed the offense of strangulation by intentionally, without consent, impeding the normal breathing or circulation of the blood of another, applying pressure to the throat or neck of another, or by blocking the nose or mouth of another person, namely Kayla Booth.
- Michael Cordle having been charged in the instant indictment with the above stated felony counts is now being charged as a persistent felony offender in the second degree.
Commonwealth vs Brandi Meade
The Grand Jury charges that on or before July 14 2020 in Lawrence County, Ky the above-named defendant:
- Brandi Meade committed the offense of possession of a controlled substance in the first degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a controlled substance, Methamphetamine.
- Brandi Meade committed the offense of possession/drug paraphernalia by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of multiple altered glass pipes.
- Brandi Meade committed the violation of failure to dim headlights by knowingly and unlawfully operating a motor vehicle upon a Ky roadway and failing to dim bright lights to oncoming vehicles.
- Brandi Meade committed the violation of rear plate not illuminated by knowingly and unlawfully operating a motor vehicle upon a Ky roadway with the rear license plate not illuminated.
