LAWRENCE COUNTY GRAND JURY MEETS AUGUST 12 AND ISSUES 7 INDICTMENTS

A Lawrence County Grand Jury met August 12 and issued seven indictments.  Of those 7 indictments two were strangulation and assault charges.  Other charges ranged from drugs, sexual abuse, to damaging graves at Preston Cemetery. 

 

Here are the charges leveled by the GJ:

 

Commonwealth vs. Jaime Alvardo Jr.

 

The Grand Jury charges that from on or about March 6, 2021, through a period ending on May 31,2021, In Lawrence County, Ky the above named defendant:

 

1. Jaime Alvardo committed the offense of theft by unlawful taking by knowingly and unlawfully taking, obtaining or exercising control over $27, 250.00 from Corielynn Irvin of Webbville, Ky with the intent to benefit oneself or another not entitled to.

 

Commonwealth vs. Casey Spence 
The Grand Jury charges that from on or about August 18, 2020  In Lawrence County, Ky the above named defendant:

 

1. Casey Spence committed the offense of theft by unlawful taking under $10, 000.00 by knowingly and unlawfully taking a 1998 Ford F150 pickup truck valued at approximately $750.00, stolen from Jeffrey Blevins of Louisa, Ky.

 

2. Casey Spence is now being charged as a persistent felony offender in the second degree.

 

Commonwealth vs. Rick Hogston
The Grand Jury charges that from on or about August 20, 2020   In Lawrence County, Ky the above named defendant:

 

1. Rick Hogston committed the offense of strangulation by intentionally, without consent, impeding the normal breathing or circulation of the blood of another, applying pressure to the throat or neck of another , or by blocking the nose or mouth of another person.

 

2. Rick Hogston committed the offense of assault in the fourth degree by knowingly and unlawfully physically assaulting another person.

 

Commonwealth vs. David Falls 
The Grand Jury charges that from on or about July 11, 2021  In Lawrence County, Ky the above named defendant:

 

1. David Falls committed the offense of violating graves by intentionally violating the grave or by destroying, removing, damaging the headstone, footstone, or the tomb over the enclosure protecting the grave of Maranda K. Perry, located on the Preston Cemetery on Laurel Creek Road in Lawrence County, Ky.

 

Commonwealth vs. Casey Arthur
The Grand Jury charges that from on or about February 9, 2021 In Lawrence County, Ky the above named defendant:

 

1. Casey Arthur committed the offense of trafficking in a controlled substance in the first degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a controlled substance with the intent to traffic in that controlled substance with the intent to traffic in that controlled substance or by trafficking in a controlled substance, namely Methamphetamine.

 

Commonwealth vs. Jimmy Maynard  
The Grand Jury charges that from on or about March 19, 2021  In Lawrence County, Ky the above named defendant:

 

1. Jimmy Maynard committed the offense of strangulation by intentionally, without consent, impeding the normal breathing or circulation of the blood of another, applying pressure to the throat or neck of another, or by blocking the nose or mouth of another person.

 

2. Jimmy Maynard committed the offense of assault in the first degree by intentionally assaulting, causing serious physical injury, with a dangerous instrument.

 

3. Jimmy Maynard committed the offense of unlawful imprisonment in the first degree by knowingly and unlawfully restraining a person, under circumstances which exposed the person to a risk of serious physical injury.

 

Commonwealth vs. Allen Farmer
The Grand Jury charges that from on or about January 6, 2021  In Lawrence County, Ky the above named defendant:

 

1. Allen Farmer committed the offense of sexual abuse in the first degree, victim under the age of twelve by knowingly and unlawfully and being 21 years old or more, engaging in masturbation in the presence of another person who is less than sixteen years old and knowing the person was present.
