Burns updates board on one-to-one computer devices for all LCHS students
LOUISA – The Lawrence County Board of Education gather at the regularly scheduled March meeting on Monday to celebrate and recognize the academic gains made across the district throughout the course of the school year.
The following teachers were recognized by Superintendent Dr. Robbie Fletcher and the Board of Education for their highly productive instructional efforts over the course of the 2016-17 school year-to-date:
Highest Growth K-1 (based on MAP scores)

During the Superintendent’s Update portion of the agenda, one particularly exciting item was when he invited Information and Technology Director Tommy Burns to update the audience on the progress toward a one-to-one device-to-student ratio for all students grades 9 through 12. Mr. Burns pointed out that these would be brand-new, state of the art Chromebook devices and would allow students to take them home to work on assignments and research.
Dr. Fletcher also updated the audience on the progress of the charter school bill through the Kentucky legislature [editor’s note: that bill, HB250, did pass both chambers and was signed by Governor Matt Bevin], the AEP Credits Count grant, progress on the upgrade to the wireless networks for the district and items regarding assessment.
Additionally, Dr. Fletcher highlighted the upcoming Operation Preparation set for March 28, which will bring professionals from across vocational and academic disciplines in to meet with LCHS and LMS students to discuss educational preparation for their future careers. This event has been one of Lawrence County Schools’ most successful over recent years.
RAMEY ASKS BOARD FOR COPY OF BUDGET INCLUDING SALARIES
During the public comment section Mr. Danny Ramey requested information on a number of items regarding budgets and expenditures, including salaries and personnel costs and was informed that, per policy and procedure, if those requests are made in writing at the Board of Education Central Office, they will be provided with all the information requested.
The next scheduled meeting of the Board will be April 17 at Blaine Elementary School at 6 p.m.

- From (1) District-wide Speech Language Pathologist (Certified; 185 days; Certified Pay Scale) to (1) District-wide Speech Language Pathologist (Certified or Classified; 185 days; Certified Pay Scale); Classified Speech Language Pathologist must maintain appropriate licensure and have obtained a Master’s Degree in the area of Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program; the Master’s Degree to be considered equivalent to Rank II on the Certified Pay Scale.
