3.A. LCHS Presentation: Principal Myram Brady, Teachers & Students

4. COMMUNICATION

4.A. Superintendent’s Update

4.A.1. HB6 (with amendments) provides $4368 per pupil and 80% transportation funding for FY25 and $4455 with 100% transportation funding for FY26.  Senate budget could be released this week.

4.A.2. With the increase in classified funding approved previously by the Board, the plan will be to  maximize the additional funding for certified raises.  (Estimate:  Each 1% raise in CERTIFIED salaries cost approximately $120,000.)

4.A.3. Local Superintendents Advisory Council met with Senate Education Committee on January 29th, and the primary focus of conversations was funding. (Dr. Fletcher serves as chair of LSAC.)

4.A.4. The USDOE published a compilation of the 10 Regional Advisory Committee reports recently.  (Dr. Fletcher was the chair of the Appalachian Regional Advisory Committee.)

4.A.5. Mrs. Webb, Mrs. Brady, and the LCHS staff continue to find ways to increase apprenticeship opportunities for our student through the TRACK program.

4.A.6. District basketball tournaments start next week.

4.A.7. Dr. Fletcher continues to serve on the Board of Directors for the Kentucky Rural Education Committee.

4.A.8. Dan Orman with the Kentucky Center for School Safety is scheduled to come to our next Board meeting to share the positives they found in their safety audit of Lawrence County High School and Louisa Middle.
