Candidate Rita Yates is shown with new Secretary of State, Michael Adams.

I am pleased to make my announcement to run for the House of Representatives Seat in the 96th District of our great state of Kentucky.

I am Rita Yates, a Republican candidate. I have lived in Lawrence County for 42 years. I have been a registered nurse for over 28 years. My husband, Tim Yates, is a local business owner in Lawrence County for over 38 years.

For the last 14 years of my nursing career I have worked in the neonatal intensive care unit where I have seen premature babies born in the 2nd trimester survive and thrive.

I AM PRO-LIFE.

I have cared for babies born addicted to multiple drugs where the only way they could be comforted is to be wrapped tightly in their blanket and pray that I would have a few moments to hold them in my twelve-hour shift. I want to be a voice for the most vulnerable without a voice.

DRUG ADDICTION MUST BE FOUGHT WITH EVERY RESOURCE AVAILABLE.

Our most valuable asset is our children. They deserve the best education possible to prepare them for their future.

QUALITY TEACHERS WITH QUALITY PAY, DELIVERING QUALITY EDUCATION IS ESSENTIAL.

I have recently retired from Cabell Huntington Hospital where I have devoted my life to serving the needs of others. It would be my honor to serve the residents of Lawrence and Carter Counties in Frankfort.

In the coming months I will attempt to personally talk to as many people as possible to hear your thoughts and concerns.

Joshua 24:24 โ€œThe Lord our God we will serve, and his voice we will obey!โ€

Sincerely,

Rita Yates

MRS. YATES WILL BE RUNNING AGAINST REPUBLICAN PATRICK FLANNERY OF CARTER COUNTY IN THE MAY PRIMARY ELECTION. INCUMBENT KATHY HINKLE, A DEMOCRAT FROM LAWRENCE COUNTY IS SEEKING REELECTION TO THE POSITION AND IS RUNNING UNOPPOSED IN THE PRIMARY.

Rita would make a fine Representative. The Yates family has been a great asset to Lawrence County for many many years!

Awesome wonderful lady!! We need a good pro life in office.

Our current representative is Pro-Life and has voted that way. Please donโ€™t try to make it sound like our Representative isnt ProLife

      • Charles says:

Give us the link to her votes, you cant because all she has voted on to date is a bill to raise minimum wage. Another fool liberal idea that helps no one, and hurts everyone.

      • blaine voter says:

No she has not voted that way.She passed on her vote in it.The vote was suppose to be for the baby to have rights. If she voted yes it would of been for the babies to have rights!! She did not vote at all.So she could not of voted for the babies rights.Rocky Adkins voted no the babies did not have their rights.Kathy supports all the Democrat party that runs!! They are all for abortions and gay rights!! If you support it you are as bad as any of the Democrats!! Yes you can check and see how she has voted!! She can’t deny that one pass!!

I don’t know her, but she is a better choice than that LC Dimocrat!

    • LCAlltheWay says:

Classy comment as always Charles. Do you know Kathy Hinkle or are you just trying to get some attention on line?

      • Charles says:

Kathy Hinkle is liberal trash, just like you! The Commonwealth doesn’t need her, or you for that matter. How’s that for classy?

  11. DB says:

I think Rita would be a great Asset to Lawrence County! Didn’t Mrs Hinkle loose Lawrence county by a very large sum of votes? But won in Carter county? Go figure that one out, so it will be hard for her in the next election! Go Rita!!

    • Charles says:

Hinkle did lose Lawrence county, although she was from Lawrence county. Hinkle won by one vote (if I remember correctly?). If it wasn’t one vote, it was just a few votes. She (Hinkle) claims to be pro life but she hasn’t been put to the test yet. The one thing she has done is co-sponsor a bill with a KY dem senator to raise the minimum wage to $15 per hour. Anyone with half a brain knows that helps no one. That is all Hinkle has done in over half her term in office. It’s online for anyone to read. Republicans are the only help working people have, dims support every un American thing they can find.

  12. Chell Specker says:

Hey Charles, How bout learning how to spell “democrat” before passing judgement. ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„

    • Charles says:

Before you laugh to loud, I spell Democrat, dim or dimocrat or commiecrat by intent, not in error. You however don’t know the word is capitalized but have time to laugh at what I do?

  13. Weezie says:

I think she has a real shot at winning.

    • Charles says:

      I hope she does Weezie!

  14. Andrea says:

    She has my vote!!
She was my babies nurse at Cabell when they were born!! She was always there when we had any concerns, and believe me with twins I had a lot of different questions.. She will be awesome!!!

  15. Tim Tackett says:

If you support, and are a part of, a party that supports abortion, then you do as well. It’s called guilty by association. And the Democrat party of today doesn’t just support abortion, they promote it, and it makes me pretty I’ll. Babies deserve a chance and need a voice. My vote will happily go to Rita!
