Stanville, Ky. —  Lawrence Co. ( 18-6 ) remained undefeated in District play with a 68-55 victory over Betsy Layne ( 4-16 ) Friday at Junior Newsome Arena.

The Bulldogs were led by Kensley Feltner with 20 points, Kaison Ward netted 14 points, Tyra Hammond tallied 12 points, Sophie Adkins scored 8 points, Leandra Curnutte 6 points, Abby Maynard 5 points and Emmallee Holt 3 points.

The Dawgs hit 6 three pointers and went 14 of 23 from the foul line.

 

Madi Meade led Betsy Layne with 36 points, Shyla Kidd had 13 points, Kim Akers 4 points, Kinleigh Martin 2 points.

The Bobcats hit 5 three pointers and 8 of 17 from the foul line.

The Dawgs are 5-0 in 58th District action will try to clinch the #1 seed on Tuesday at Floyd Central who is 4-1 in District action and 16-7 overall.

“… Very proud of our girls for finishing the week strong. Getting our 5th district win was great but we know the game Tuesday against Floyd Central will be one that we definitely want to win to finish the sweep. We know we have our work cut out for us. They are well coached and a very solid team so it’s no easy task. But we will get back in the gym this weekend and get prepared for them.”
