Maynard a three sport star for the Bulldogs helped the Soccer team to a District title and an appearance in the 15th Region Championship game this past fall. He scored a career high 41 points Friday night in a win over Magoffin Co. to clinch a spot in the upcoming Class 2A State Basketball Tournament in Owensboro and helped lead the LCHS Baseball team to a program high 35 wins and a 15th Region title as a Junior last season.

The Bears will be under the direction of Casey Hamilton a former Boyd Co. star who will be in his rookie campaign.

The first schedule of the new decade is one that is filled with 36 home games, including seven weekend series.

UPIKE opens the season the same as last year with back to back trips down south to Point and Reinhardt in the first two weekends in February. The only other non-conference matchup the Bears return to Pikeville for a mid-week doubleheader at IU-Southeast.

Pikeville will host Concordia (Mich.) and Goshen College in a three-way tournament, Mount Vernon Nazarene, Saint Francis, and Fisher College all at home this season in non-conference play. The Bears will also play Rio Grande, Milligan, West Virginia Tech, Montreat, and Alice Lloyd in home and home series throughout the year.

In conference play, the Bears will play host to Lindsey Wilson, Thomas More, Shawnee State, and University of the Cumberlands.

This season’s conference tournament will take place from April 30 to May 3 at Bowling Green Ballpark in Bowling Green, Ky.

Lawrence Co. Head Coach Travis Feltner

“… There’s no doubt in my mind that Tyler will flourish at UPike. I believe his best baseball is way ahead of him.”
