Louisa, Ky. — The Lawrence Co. Girls bounced back with a good win over Pike Co. Central 67-47 on Friday to improve to 2-1 on the young season.

Lawrence Co. bounced back with blowout victory over the Hawks in front of the home crowd as ten different Bulldogs scored.
Sophie Adkins led the way with 18 points, Leandra Curnutte hit 3 three pointers and finished with 15 points, Kaison Ward tallied 11 points, Abby Nelson added 6 points, Jada Patton and Hallie Adkins had 4 points each, Abby Maynard and Madison Artrip had 3 points each, Gabby Stinnett had 2 points, Addison Bloomfield chipped in with one point.

Lawrence Co. hit 7 three pointers and went 12 of 14 from the free throw line.
The Hawks were led by Hannah May with 24 points, Abigail Hess 8 points, Lindsey Bowman 7 points, Abby May, Maggie Cochran, Layla Johnson and Cydney Snodgrass all had 2 points each.
Pike Co. Central went 11 of 18 from the free throw line and were held without a three point field goal.

The Dawgs traveled to Paintsville and dropped a contest to the Golden Eagles.
Lawrence Co. was led by Sophie Adkins with 23 points including 3 three pointers, Jada Patton added 12 points, Kaison Ward tallied 10 points and Abby Maynard chipped in with 4 points.
The Bulldogs hit 5 three pointers and went 10 of 16 from the foul line.
Becca Wright and Taylor McKenzie had 14 points each, Karlea Stanley had 11 points, Kaylyn McKenzie and Sophie Younce had 4 points each, Maddie Prater 3 points, Abbie Stambaugh, Haylee Marsillett and Adyson Burchett had 2 points each.
Johnson Central hit 6 three pointers and went 14 of 18 from the free throw line.

The Dawgs will return to action with a trip to West Liberty to face Morgan Co. and then host District rival Betsy Layne on Friday.

COACH’S COMMENTS
“… I was very proud of our kids for the bounce back win on Friday evening. Against Johnson Central we didn’t match their physicality in the first half and dug ourself a hole. We battled and competed better in the 2nd half and gave ourselves a chance to win but ultimately ran out of time. We have to learn from this experience and be ready to play from the tip. We did out score them in the second half so we made progress. We just have to keep working.”
“ I was happy to see better intensity out of the gate on Friday night. We were able to put up 21 points in the first quarter and get ourselves rolling and that was brought on by a much better defensive effort. Much better effort in every aspect of the game. That’s what we want to see this early in the season is learning from our mistakes and getting better. We’re looking forward to this week. We head to Morgan County Tuesday and host our first District game at home Friday night against Betsy Layne.”
