Louisa, Ky. — For the first time in school history the Lawrence Co. boys soccer team captured the Class 2A Section Championship after a 7-0 victory over Boyd Co. on Wednesday.

Blake Maynard, Boedy Maynard, Owen Pack, Andrew Vinson, Landon Fairchild, Ryland Brady, Jack Cline, Gavin Wells, Alex DeSario, Cooper Smith, Landon Frazier, Zachery Fannin, Jonathon Mills, Aiden Mynhier, Colten New, Micheal Preston, Gabe Vinson, Caden Sweeney

 

Senior Blake Maynard continued his torrid pace of scoring goals with five goals. Freshman Jack Cline and Junior Andrew Vinson also scored for the Bulldogs who improved to 4-1 on the year.

Ryland Brady had nine saves in goal. 

It was also the first time in school history that Lawrence Co. defeated Boyd Co. as well. 

On Monday the Dawgs took care of Johnson Central 4-2 at home behind four goals from Blake Maynard, Andrew Vinson had two assists and Owen Pack had one assist. 

Ryland Brady was in goal and had six saves. 

Lawrence Co. will return to action on Monday with a home game versus Greenup Co. before traveling to Paintsville on Tuesday to battle the Tigers.

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… It was a good win against a program that we have never beaten. The boys played fantastic and put a lot of pressure on Boyd County the entire time. We were very excited to get our first 2A victory under our belts.

“…Ryland Brady had some great saves in the net.”
