WILL PLAY FOR ANOTHER DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP

LANGLEY, KY. — Lawrence Co. senior Ciana Bowen and sophomore Mackenzie Methax both hit grand slam home runs as the Lady Bulldogs (25-8) cruised past Betsy Layne 15-0 in three innings Tuesday in the first round of the 58th District softball tournament at Floyd Central.

#6 Ciana Bowen is all smiles as her team greets her after hitting a Grand Slam in the Lady Bulldogs District opening victory.

The Lady Dawgs scored four runs in the first, eight runs in the second and three runs in the third to finish the mercy shortened win.

Bowen threw another shutout in the circle as Lawrence Co. advanced to the District title game for the fourth consecutive season.

#24 Mackenzie Methax hit a second inning Grand Slam as the Lady Dawgs prevailed in the 58th District opener.Ashley Hayes had two hits and 1 RBI, Emily Burke had a 2 RBI single, Abby Fletcher doubled, Amber Triplett singled.

Lawrence Co. will face Floyd Central ( 12-19 ) for the 58th District Championship on Thursday night at 7:00 after the Lady Jaguars beat Prestonsburg 17-6 in the second game on Tuesday.

“… That was a big win for us. Everyone did their job and hit the ball well. I’m ready to accomplish one of our goals we made before season started and bring another district championship back to Lawrence County. From here on out we play one game at a time.”
