LANGLEY, KY. — As the 58th District Softball tournament kicks off tonight at Floyd Central the Lady Bulldogs from Lawrence Co. (24-8) will be the heavy favorites to bring home the title.

LC junior Abby Fletcher has been rock solid all year for the Lady Bulldogs.

The Lady Dawgs will face Betsy Layne ( 6-15 ) at 5:30. Lawrence Co. out scored the Lady Bobcats 34-1 in six innings of play in the regular season.

In the second game at 7:00 Floyd Central (11-19) will play Prestonsburg (12-17) and the winners will battle Thursday at 7:00 for the 58th District Championship. The two first round winners will advance to 15th Region play on Memorial Day.

Lawrence Co. has been led by senior Ciana Bowen in the circle and at the plate plus junior catcher Abby Fletcher has been on fire of late. Halli Caudill has patrolled center field and been a catalyst from her lead off spot all year.

Lawrence Co. Head Coach Kenny Horn

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… We kicked around the last couple of regular season games and that really cost us some victories. Like I have said before, postseason is a different time of year and we are excited to get started.”
