LADY DAWGS GO 1-1 OVER THE WEEKEND; BEAT ESTILL, LOSE TO ROWAN

Louisa, Ky. —  Lawrence Co. ( 12-10 ) split a pair of games on Saturday in the Bulldog Triangle as Rowan Co. ( 14-8 ) and Estill Co. ( 7-9 ) along with the Lady Dawgs battled the heat on a humid day.

Lawrence Co. 7 Estill Co. 6 ( 9 innings )

Brittany Shapaka drove home Halli Caudill in the 9th inning for the game winner for the Lady Dawgs. Haleigh Peck scored three runs and Caudill scored two for the victors. Emily Burke also scored for LC. The Lady Lady Dawg Freshman Halli Caudill scored the winning run vs Estill Co. in the 9th inning Saturday. Dawgs scored three in the seventh to force extra innings.

Mackenzie Methex started in the circle for LC, Haleigh Peck and Ciana Bowen pitched in relief with Bowen picking up the win.

Rowan Co. 7 Lawrence Co. 5

The Lady Vikings scored five unearned runs in the first inning to get the victory over LC. The Lady Dawgs scored three runs in the bottom of the first but couldn’t get any closer. Ciana Bowen had a double, Natalie Rice, Halli Caudill, Haleigh Peck, Brittany Shapaka and Mackenzie Methex all had at least one hit. Caudill scored two runs, Bowen Abby Fletcher, and Peck all scored runs.

On Thursday in a Junior Varsity game vs Boyd Co. Lillian Kinser and Mackenzie Methex hit back to back home runs.

The Lady Dawgs will travel to Pike Co. Central on Wednesday for their only game this week.

“… In the Estill County game I was really proud of our girls for hanging in and fighting back to get the win. Played a much better game defensively and were patient at the plate.”
