UPDATE: (4:45 P.M. Tuesday, July 23) – As Carter County Tourism faces an investigation for alleged embezzlement within the organization, WOWK 13 News has learned their treasurer has resigned.

The treasurer has not been accused in the Kentucky State Police investigation. However, when WOWK 13 News asked Carter County Tourism representatives to confirm the treasurer’s status, they replied, “resigned.”

13 News then asked the tourism representatives when the treasurer submitted their resignation, and they said that information was “part of the investigation.” There is no word yet on if that resignation happened before the investigation began on June 20th, or after.

It is still unclear how much money is involved in this case or if KSP has any possible suspects at this time.
