ASHLAND, Ky. (August 27, 2018) — On Saturday, August 25, 2018, the Kentucky State Police Post 14 was notified that Matthew Conley, age 41, of Russell, KY had used one of his social media accounts to threaten Greenup County District Judge, Brian McCloud, in retaliation for the Judge’s involvement in a recent legal proceeding.

A warrant was issued for Mr. Conley’s arrest, and Troopers made contact with him at his residence soon after receiving the complaint. There, Conley was determined to be intoxicated but was taken into custody without incident. He was later lodged in the Greenup County Detention Center, and charged with Intimidating a Participant in a Legal Process, a Class D Felony.

The next day it was determined that Mr. Matthew Conley had disregarded a court ordered diversion on the night of his arrest, which prohibited him from having access to handguns and other firearms, and required he remain drug and alcohol free. That order had been in effect since February 13, 2014.

A search warrant was obtained and executed at Mr. Conley’s residence by Kentucky State Police Troopers, where evidence was discovered which substantiated his violation of the mandate.

The case remains under investigation by Trooper Jeffrey Moore. He was assisted by the Greenup County Sheriff’s Office and Russell Police Department.

UPDATE 8/27/18 @ 8:05 a.m.
A woman accused of violating her probation in the case of a Greenup County teen’s death has been arrested after a month on the run, while the victim’s father was arrested and booked just moments earlier.
Lewis County deputies arrested Kelly Dummitt early Sunday morning. She is now in the Lewis County jail.

Just minutes before Kelly Dummitt was booked into the Lewis County Detention Center early Sunday for allegedly violating her probation, Conley’s dad, Matt was arrested on intimidation charges.

Dummitt was facing charges for her role in the 2015 death of Mattie Conley. With agreement from the Conley family, a judge granted Dummitt a pre-trial diversion which she allegedly violated just days later earlier this year.

Mattie Conley’s father Matthew was booked just minutes before Dummitt in the Greenup County Detention Center, after being arrested by Kentucky State Police.

Matthew Conley is charged with intimidating a participant in the legal process, which is a felony. No bail has been set.

Court records say Dummitt left the state of Kentucky without permission, drank alcohol, violated curfew, and gave false information to her probation officer.

Dummitt was taken to the Lewis County Detention Center.

UPDATE 8/26/18 @ 10:11 a.m.
A woman accused of violating her probation in the case of a Greenup County teen’s death has been arrested after a month on the run.  Lewis County deputies arrested Kelly Dummitt early Sunday morning.

Dummitt was facing charges for her alleged role in the 2015 death of Mattie Conley. With agreement from the Conley family, a judge granted Dummitt a pre-trial diversion which she allegedly violated just days later earlier this year.

The judge gave her a second chance in late January, and after a 90 day stint in jail, investigators say Dummitt violated the terms again in late July.

Court records say Dummitt left the state of Kentucky without permission, drank alcohol, violated curfew, and gave false information to her probation officer.

Dummitt was taken to the Lewis County Detention Center.
