Fatality in Greenup County, two others injured critically

GREENUP, Ky. (February 15, 2023) – The Kentucky State Police, Ashland Post was contacted just after 7:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 15, 2023 in reference to a two-vehicle fatal collision in Greenup County.

Troopers responded to the junction of Horn Hollow and the Industrial Parkway, to perform a reconstruction. The preliminary investigation indicates a 2007 Ford Focus, being operated by Brian Harmon (32), turned left onto the Industrial Parkway from Horn Hollow, when it was struck on the driver’s side by a 2005 Scion XA, which was driven by Hunter Starr (23).

As a result, Brian Harmon was pronounced deceased on scene by Greenup County Coroner Neil Wright. Mr. Ronald Harmon (39) was a passenger in Ford Focus and sustained serious injuries. He was transported to Cabell-Huntington Hospital where he remains in critical condition. Hunter Starr also suffered serious injuries, and was taken to King’s Daughters Medical Center before being flown to University of Kentucky Hospital.

Autopsy and toxicology reports are pending, and it is yet to be determined if speed or intoxicants were contributing factors. The collision remains under investigation by Trooper Nathan Carter, who was assisted on scene by the Greenup County Sheriff’s Office, and the Greenup County Coroner’s Office.
