MURDER VICTIM: CHRISTOPHER ALLEN BUSSELL, 41, OF OWINGSVILLE, KY., DIED AFTER HE WAS BRUTALLY STABBED MULTIPLE TIMES AND HIS BODY WAS FOUND UNDER A PILE OF LEAVES IN THE YARD OF A HOME LATE SATURDAY MORNING, FEBRUARY 11.

Five people, including three women, one of whom is barely an adult, were arrested by state police shortly after they were allegedly involved in the brutal murder death of a Bath County man earlier this month and law enforcement officials are not ruling out more arrests and criminal charges pending the outcome of a grand jury investigation

According to a press release from the Kentucky State Police Post 8, in Morehead, KY., they received a call for assistance from Bath County dispatch on Saturday February 11th at around 11:37 A.M., in reference to a death investigation.

KSP Post 8 Troopers responded to 377 East High Street in Bath County. Upon arriving at the residence, troopers located an unidentified male victim in the yard near a brush pile.  The male suffered multiple life threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased by Bath County Coroner, Andrew Owens.

The investigation continued onwards, and Kentucky State Police were able to identify the deceased male as Christopher Allen Bussell, 41, of Owingsville, KY.

As a result of this investigation the following subjects have been arrested and charged with the following:

Shannon McCarty, 20, of Owingsville, KY,, was charged with:

  • MURDER, 1ST DEGREE.
  • HINDERING PROSECUTION OR APPREHENSION-2ND DEGREE

Priscilla Hunt, 40, of Sharpsburg, KY., was charged with:

  • COMPLICITY MURDER.
  • HINDERING PROSECUTION OR APPREHENSION-2ND DEGREE.

Joslyn Leann Brooks, 18, of Stanton KY., was charged with:

  • COMPLICITY MURDER.
  • HINDERING PROSECUTION OR APPREHENSION-2ND DEGREE.

Krystal G. Hardin, 40, of Sharpsburg, KY., was charged with:

  • MURDER, 1ST DEGREE.

Donald R. Puckett, 46, of Owingsville, KY., was originally reported as being arrested on unrelated criminal charges, but he was also charged with:

  • MURDER, 1ST DEGREE.
The other unrelated criminal charges Donald Puckett was facing was for:
*FAILURE TO APPEAR,
*TRAFFICKING IN CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFFENSE – (< 2 GRAMS METHAMPHETAMINE),
*NON-PAYMENT OF COURT COSTS, FEES OR FINES (2 SEPARATE CHARGES COUNTS)

Additional charges are pending after the case is given in the presentation to the Bath County Grand Jury.

According to Bath County Court documents Donald Puckett was arrested along with the other four suspects, but the state police previously said he was brought in on unrelated charges.

Donald Puckett’s arrest citation said two men got out of a van along the sidewalk of U.S. 60 in Owingsville and started an altercation with 41-year-old Christopher Bussell. The occupants of the van located Bussell and circled around the block waiting for him to approach an intersection.

Christopher Bussell was later found with multiple stab wounds in a yard at a home on East High Street in Owingsville, state police said. Two days after the stabbing, on Monday evening, February 13, state police said they arrested the five individuals in connection to the killing.

Shannon McCarty, Priscilla Hunt, and Joslyn Leann Brooks are being held in the Rowan County Detention Center in Morehead, KY., on $1,000,000 full cash bond for each of the three, while Krystal Hardin and Donald Puckett are being held in the Montgomery County Detention Center in Mount Sterling, KY. on no bond allowed
