Kentucky Republicans Latest Coronavirus Updates
President Trump and the White House Coronavirus Task Force are leading an unprecedented, comprehensive, and aggressive whole of America approach to slow the spread of the virus. Meanwhile, the Paycheck Protection Program from the bipartisan relief package– negotiated by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans and signed into law by the President – starts today.

President Trump also recently approved Kentucky’s request for a federal major disaster declaration in our state. Senators McConnell and Rand Paul, and Congressmen Hal Rogers, Brett Guthrie, Thomas Massie, Andy Barr and James Comer had joined together to support the request to the Trump Administration. This declaration would further aid Kentucky communities and families severely impacted by the coronavirus.
Kentucky House and Senate Republicans have been tackling the coronavirus crisis head-on, with much-needed relief for families and businesses, a bipartisan budget that protects key priorities like classroom spending; more flexibility for absentee voting; emergency help for school districts and more. Secretary of State Michael Adams and the Republican-led legislature have also acted to provide more flexibility for Kentucky’s primary election. Thanks to their leadership, if the coronavirus pandemic continues approaching the June 23 primary election, the secretary of state can work with the governor to expand absentee voting.
Treasurer Allison Ball Treasurer Allison Ball’s office continues to assist Kentuckians with disabilities who have STABLE Kentucky savings accounts be aware of all they can use this money for, such as health, transportation, housing, and more. She is also encouraging parents and teachers now facing homeschooling to utilize a database she created of financial education resources for students, called Student Strategies. The Treasury continues processing essential payments like unemployment insurance, retirement payments, state payroll and child support, CHFS benefit payments and revenue and labor cabinet tax payments.
Attorney General Daniel Cameron joined amicus briefs supporting Texas, Ohio, Alabama, and Oklahoma in their efforts to slow the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and conserve personal protective equipment (PPE) by halting elective medical procedures, including abortions.
Auditor Mike Harmon continues to serve the public through the coronavirus pandemic, implementing changes to procedures in the auditor’s office to encourage social distancing.
