Kentucky Power FINAL Windstorm Update

Tuesday, October 1, 2024, 7:00 p.m.

Summary:

Remnants of Hurricane Helene swept through Kentucky Power’s service area on Friday, September 27, causing extensive damage to electrical facilities and leaving 44,000 customers without power at the peak of the event. More than 1,000 Kentucky Power personnel, business partners and external resources worked to restore power.

 

Restoration:

There are approximately 375 customers currently without power. In total, crews replaced 143 poles, 774 spans of wire (nearly 57 miles), 96 cross arms and 54 transformers.
