ASHLAND, Ky., October 29, 2018 – American Electric Power announced Monday that Brett Mattison has been named president and chief operating officer of Kentucky Power.

Kentucky Power President Matt Satterwhite has been named AEP’s vice president of Regulatory and will relocate to Columbus.
Brett Mattison, currently with SWEPCO, has been named Kentucky Power’s new president and chief operating officer, effective January 1.

Mattison, 54, currently is the director of Customer Services and Marketing for Kentucky Power’s sister company, Southwestern Electric Power Co. (SWEPCO), in Shreveport, Louisiana.  Matthew Satterwhite, 45, current Kentucky Power president and COO, has been promoted to vice president of Regulatory Services and will relocate to Columbus, Ohio.

Mattison will have responsibility for all aspects of electric service for Kentucky Power’s customers, effective January 1.

“I look forward to carrying out the commitments the Kentucky Power team has made especially in economic development and to further enhance the overall customer experience by providing reliable and affordable electricity to all of our customers,” Mattison said.

Mattison has served as SWEPCO’s director of Customer Services and Marketing since 2004, with responsibility for account management of SWEPCO’s wholesale, industrial, commercial and residential customers; metering services; energy efficiency programs; and process improvement. He joined the company in 1990.

Satterwhite said leaving Kentucky Power and eastern Kentucky is “bittersweet.”

“We have made great strides in rebuilding the economy and I have loved being part of that, plus my family and I love the community,” Satterwhite. “But I am confident Brett, who has a deep understanding of the utility business and a collaborative leadership style, will continue Kentucky Power’s mission and be an active member in the region.”

Mattison earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Finance from Louisiana Tech University and a commercial banking degree from the American Institute of Banking. He and his wife, Lori, have four children and two grandchildren. They will relocate to the Ashland area.
