ASHLAND, Ky., April 5, 2021– Kentucky Power recently awarded grant of $35,000 to Housing Oriented Ministries Established for Services, Inc. (HOMES). The grant from the American Electric Power (AEP) Foundation and Kentucky Power will support a renovation project at Addiction Recovery Care Center’s Spring Hill facility.
Housing Oriented Ministries Established for Service, Inc. provides affordable and efficient housing solutions to distressed communities in eastern Kentucky through new construction, rehabilitation and rental opportunities. HOMES also offers a variety of experiential volunteer opportunities that foster teambuilding and servant leadership for groups and organizations.
Addiction Recovery Care (ARC) operates a network of over thirty addiction treatment centers in sixteen eastern and central Kentucky counties. The organization, headquartered in Louisa, Kentucky, offers a full continuum of care including detox, residential, transitional, intensive outpatient, outpatient, medically assisted treatment (MAT), vocational rehabilitation, and job training. ARC’s Spring Hill facility is a men’s residential facility located in Neon, Kentucky.

The American Electric Power Foundation is funded by AEP and its utility operating companies, including Kentucky Power. The Foundation focuses on improving lives through education in science, technology, engineering, math and the environment and by meeting basic needs for emergency shelter, affordable housing and the elimination of hunger.

Customers, please keep in mind that although this is a good thing Kentucky Power does not do this out of the goodness of their heart. This is excess profits. It is easier for them to give it away in the form of grants and donations than to explain to the public service commission. If it were that way you would be seeing them lower their rates some. Not complaining just educating the public about this company. Trust me, I know.
Anyone else aggravated to see the money they pay to AEP going to ARC? Timmy is taking it in right and left….
ARC is big bucks and it is here in Louisa. If not here it would be elsewhere. It means jobs and economy stimulation. Plus look at all the eggs, milk and coffee they consume. Quite an accomplishment.
