Kay Maynard, 81, of Louisa, KY went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. Kay was born August 14, 1942 in Louisa, KY to the late Luther L. and Elizabeth Sure (Burke) Varney.

Kay was a member of Louisa Free Will Baptist Church, Past Worthy Matron of Louise Chapter #292 Order of the Eastern Star, and was a retired teachers aide from the Lawrence County Board of Education.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Edward Maynard and brother Luke Varney, Jr.

Survivors include her children Charles Luke (Marna) Maynard and Brad A. (Valerie) Maynard; grandchildren Katie Harmon and Chad Maynard; great grandchildren Lane Harmon, Brynn Harmon, Graham Harmon, Luke Maynard, and Lucy Maynard; and special nieces Susan Compton and Amy Greenhill.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Louisa Free Will Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Maynard Cemetery.

Friends may visit the family on Friday, January 5, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the Young Funeral Home Chapel, with the Eastern Star Funeral Service conducted at 7:00 PM.

Young Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Mrs. Maynard and her family.

    My life as a youth was fun thanks to memories of darling Kay. We laughed and played together until our sides hurt. I was blessed to know her. I’ll see her again in the bye and bye. She will make Heaven an everlasting joy.
