Joyce G. Varney 

1941 – 2016

Joyce G. Varney 74 of Louisa, KY passed away Tuesday,  April 5, 2016 at Three Rivers Medical Center surrounded by her loved ones.

Joyce was born Oct. 27, 1941 at Soldier, KY the daughter of the late Roger and Ivery Carter Clevenger.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Luke Varney Jr.  She was a retired teacher assistant with the Lawrence County Board of Education and attended the Louisa First Baptist Church.

Joyce dedicated 25 years  of her life as a teacher assistant working with students with special needs. During her free time she loved working with her hands making crafts and sewing.  She also enjoyed working in the yard and tending to her flowers.  Most of all, Joyce loved spending time with her grandchildren and watching them participate in their various activities. 

Survivors include two daughters, Susan Varney Compton and husband William of Louisa, and Amy Varney Greenhill and husband John of Maysville, KY; four grandchildren Michael Compton and wife Tiffany, Laura Compton, Karissa Greenhill, and Lukas Greenhill; two great grandchildren Reed and Jack; six sisters Faye Sagraves and Sharon Kegley both of Paris, KY, Bonnie Conn of West Harrison, IN, Reda Oney and Ronna Blevins both of Morehead, KY, and Pam Brickle of Atlanta, GA.

Funeral services will be held on Friday April 8 at 1:00 pm at the Wilson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Thursday April 7 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Wilson Funeral Home.

Care has been entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home.
