Joy Saree York Walker

1930 – 2016

Joy Saree York Walker of Louisa, Kentucky went to be with the Lord on April 3, 2016 in Ashland, Kentucky at Kings Daughters Medical Center.

A devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Joy was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Frederick Walker. Joy was the daughter of the late Rev. Ulysses Grant and Georgia York. She was also preceded in death by brothers Harold York, Alvis York, and Ulysses Grant York, Jr., and sisters Isabelle Swearngin, Oretha Heisler, and Joanne York.

Joy is survived by daughter Sandra Gale Walker-Griffith, and son Charles Randall Walker (Janel) and grandchildren Charles Joseph Burton (Misty Marie Burton), Emily Joy Walker, Mary Elizabeth Burton, and great grandchildren McKinley Saree Burton and Paisley Marie Burton. Surviving sisters are Christine See, Gloria Cassell, Fern Powers (David), Janet Casteel (Hobart), Barbara Artrip (Larry) and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be at the Young Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, April 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Tim York and Rev. Sung Bauta will be officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Louisa, Kentucky.

Visitation will be at Young Funeral Home of Louisa, Kentucky on Thursday April 7, 2016 from 6 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
