Funding Will Improve Efficiency and Reduce Public Energy Costs
FRANKFORT, KY (August 30, 2019) – The Department for Local Government (DLG) has announced an Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EEC) grant of $100,000 to Johnson County for an energy conservation project.
The EEC grant will assist county government to make energy efficient upgrades to various public facilities through Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPC). This turnkey service provides local officials with a means to finance facility improvements, address deferred maintenance and implement energy efficiency and renewable energy projects through utility cost savings.
The Johnson County Fiscal Court will be awarded funds to go towards the county’s ESPC. The proposed ESPC will include the County Courthouse, the County Garage, the Regional Jail and the Judicial Center. The project will make several improvements to these facilities that will result in both energy savings and a reduction in operational expenses.
The proposed improvements include but are not limited to lighting upgrades, mechanical upgrades/retro-commissioning, building envelope and water conservation.
