James Adkins

1935 – 2017

James Adkins, Jr., 81 of Louisa passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Kentucky.

He was born on November 1, 1935 in Pikeville, Kentucky to the late Jim Adkins and Elsie Smallwood Adkins Jury. James worked as a mechanic for a number of years and served his country honorably in the US Army.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son Floyd Adkins and five brothers Alvin Adkins, Harold Dean Adkins, Ruffus Thacker, Tommy Adkins and Ireland Adkins.

He is survived by his wife Martha Hylton-Adkins of Louisa; two step children Glenda Ratliff of Louisa and Claude Quesenberry, Jr. of Olive Hill; one step grandson Nicholas Ratliff of Louisa and 3 step great grandchildren; four brothers Jack Adkins of Columbus, Charlie Adkins of Pikeville, John Adkins of Lanett, Alabama and Epp Thacker of Pikeville as well as many friends and extended family.

There will be a graveside service on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Berry Cemetery at Sand Branch Pastor Charles Wilks, Jr. will officiate.
