INTERSECTION ALIGNMENT WORK STARTS NEAR WALMART OUTSIDE LOUISA

Intersection alignment work starts near Walmart outside Louisa

LAWRENCE COUNTY – Wednesday, September 26, 2018 – When you drive from downtown Louisa to Walmart, you turn at the intersection of KY 2565, KY 2563, and County Road 1529.

Mountain Enterprises was the low bidder at $1,069,440.28 on a contract to improve the alignment and geometrics of this intersection.

“This is the continuation of a project we did a couple of years ago,” explained Darold Slone, D12 Engineering Branch Manager. “This will carry over into next spring, and there will be periods of time when the county road and the side road will be closed.”

Slone said the contractor has agreed to give advance notice, through use of variable message boards, social media posts, and traditional media announcements, when any of the roads will be closed to traffic.

Motorists should realize this area will be a work zone for some months. “Be alert when traveling in the area,” Slone said. “Traffic patterns may change from time to time. For everyone’s safety it is important that drivers pay attention and slow down when approaching the work zone. Keep in mind that most of the people injured in work zone wrecks are motorists and their passengers. People who are working on the roadway are vulnerable, too, but it’s a statistical fact that most of the fatalities and injuries are among people traveling through the area of construction.”
