THREE deputies register for Lawrence Co. Sheriff

Four term county attorney is seeking re-election in 2018 to continue being ‘people’s voice’ in Courthouse

LOUISA — Lawrence County Attorney Mike Hogan today filed his candidacy papers for re-election in 2018 with the office of county clerk in the Lawrence County Courthouse.

First elected in 2002, Hogan said he was seeking his fifth four-year term as county attorney so he “can continue to be the people’s voice in the Courthouse.”

Hogan said that he was proud of his record of being a “champion” for the people of Lawrence County regardless of political party or even if he had to make some in his own party mad in order to do what was right.

“I stood up to Barack Obama over shutting down the Big Sandy coal-fired power plant that cost many a good man a good job, and I’ve stood up to Matt Bevin over a proposed pension plan that would hurt our teachers and other state employees.  I will always be on the side of what’s right for the people of Lawrence County, even if I have to take on those in my own party to do it.  Mike Hogan will never sit quietly when he thinks people are being wronged,” Hogan said.

As county attorney, Hogan said he always tried to be “firm, but fair,” and pointed to his 100% jury trial conviction rate since 2003.

Hogan said he was proud of the work his office had done to fight drugs in conjunction with law enforcement, including the Kentucky State Police, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department, and the Louisa City Police.

“The influx of drugs into Lawrence County has taken a heavy toll on our county, but we continue to fight the scourge as hard as we can, and the battle continues every day,” Hogan said.

Hogan, and his wife, Joy, reside in Louisa, with their children, Burke, Blake, and Hannah, all of whom attend Lawrence County High School, and are active in football, and cheerleading. The Hogans attend Louisa United Methodist Church.

Hogan is a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves as well as a past master of the Apperson Lodge 195 F&AM.  He is a graduate of Lawrence County High School, Eastern Kentucky University, and Northern Kentucky University Salmon P. Chase College of Law.  Hogan’s parents are Janet and Hobart Casteel of Louisa.

“It has truly been the honor of my life that the people of Lawrence County would elect me — a hometown boy who was raised by a single mom in very humble circumstances, as their county attorney. I humbly ask for Lawrence Countians’ vote and support for another four years,” Hogan said.
