Herma Jean Rose, 78, of Ulysses went home to be with the Lord on January 16, 2022 surrounded by family.

Born February 14, 1943, Herma was the daughter of the late Kirk and Martha Lemaster Caudill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Rose.

Herma was a member of the Sand Gap United Baptist Church. She worked many jobs throughout her life, but she will be remembered best for her dedication in caring for her children, grandchildren, and the many special children throughout her life.

Herma’s love and spirit will be carried on by her four children: Jon (Vicki) Rose, Peggy (Bobby) Cantrell, Sandy (Eddie) Preston, and Dale (Jennifer) Rose; as well as 10 grandchildren: Bobby (Lynsey) Cantrell, Timmy Cantrell, Audra (Andrew) Hogan, Kyle (Amina) Rose, Ashley (Colton) Sullivan, Shelby (David) Balaklaw, Brandon Rose, Dylan (Christian) Rose, Nadalee Preston, and Noah Rose; and 9 great-grandchildren. Herma also leaves behind a special brother, Ed Caudill.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the care provided by Community Hospice of Ashland; the staff will be cherished forever.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Young Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Frank Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the Young Funeral Home Chapel.

Due to the rising numbers in Covid-19 cases, the family asks that you please wear a mask when you visit.

Young Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Mrs. Rose and her family.

Oh my, Harm was one of my favorite chicken ladys. She sure will be missed by many. She sure had beautiful chickens too.
